fG1Y@x: God gives the dream

So here it is — the first blog in the weekly series, Following God One Yes at a Time (a.k.a. fG1Y@x –that should be a relief to those of you who thought I was cussing, comic-book style).

On August 28 1963, Martin Luther King Jr. stood in front of the largest demonstration in American history gathered at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C on the 100th anniversary of the emancipation proclamation and proclaimed, “I have a dream!”

Don’t we all?

I have a dream. You have a dream. We have many overlapping dreams. You may have taken that dream vacation or built your dream home or landed that dream job or married a real dreamboat so you can honestly say that some of your dreams have come true. Experience has also proven that some things you dreamed about — jobs, relationships, moves –were more like nightmares when they didn’t turn out like you thought they would.

But do you realize that God has dreams for you? The bible’s first words are “In the beginning, God…”. Everything starts with Him. Even our dreams. God made you and then broke the mould. There’s no one else like you. And God has a tailor-made dream for your life that doesn’t fit anyone else like it fits you. When God plants a dream in your soul, you can know for certain it will come true.

How can you recognize His dreams? What do they look like? The number one dead giveaway is, they are always bigger than you.His dream looks like a mountain you can’t climb. In other words, you can’t possibly fulfill God’s dream for your life on your own. His dreams are only reachable if you work as a team: He leads and you follow, one yes at a time.
